Halloween, arguably the most fun and creative holiday of the year, is just around the corner. If you haven’t already, it’s time to start preparing your costume, stocking up on candy, and planning your night. And if you’re really dedicated, you may consider getting a permanent or temporary tattoo to solidify your love for Halloween.
Halloween isn’t just for kids--adults of all ages still enjoy dressing up as their favorite characters or monsters, either to attend theme parties or just to hand out candy to the kids who come knocking on their door. Halloween is a special holiday because it’s the one night of the year we have a legitimate excuse to step into someone else’s shoes. We can be as scary, sexy, or silly as we want, and no one will judge us. Well, some of us might--just don’t take it too far and go around offending or traumatizing people.
For some people, Halloween is more than just costumes, haunted houses, and kitschy lawn decor. It could be, for instance, a form of escapism, a time to forget about all your daily struggles, worries, and responsibilities. True Halloween fans are drawn to its symbolism, absurdity, and fantastical nature, and perhaps even to its darkness. If any of this resonates with you, a Halloween themed tattoo may be right up your alley.
Traditionally, Halloween was intended to be scary, a night filled with witches, ghouls, mummies, werewolves, vampires, and zombies. Nowadays, the holiday seems to have lost some of its spookiness, as many people prefer to dress up as a favorite character or celebrity, rather than a terrifying creature. We believe Halloween tattoos would not be Halloween tattoos if they weren’t spooky. Therefore, we’ve rounded up a list of tattoos that we believe capture the true spirit of Halloween, the scariest night of the year. We’ve also included a design from our semi-permanent tattoo collection for those who don’t want the year-round, lifelong commitment. Plus, any of these designs can be replicated using our temporaryfreehand tattoo ink. Scroll down to view 20 of our favorite spooky tattoo designs, ranging in style from simple to complex.
